Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for acts of heroism performed during aerial flight in World War II.

Claude A. Waldrop, Jr  is listed in the WW II Memorial Registry honorees.

 

 

 Claude served as a crew member aboard a B-24, flying

missions over Japan.  On one of those missions, they got hit

in mid-flight and the plane’s fuel tank caught on fire.  
Claude

saved their bacon when he was able to finally put out that

fire.
