Born in Giles County, TN, Mary was the
1st of 10 children of William Henry Barlow
(Barlar) and Susan Frances (Phillips). Between
1889 - 1892, she and her husband, 'Will' Ayres,
and the children they already had by then, moved
from Tennessee to Texas, where she would live
until her death in 1913.
