__Thank
you so much for the information. Today I was able to be in
touch with the caretaker of the cemetery (the Gregg School
Cemetery - Austin, TX); and she has invited us out to see it! I
am very excited as is my daughter-in-law. Her father and uncle want to visit as
well. I wonder if Mary Barlow Ayers would have ever guessed
that people would be looking for her so many years later. She
may not have known it at the time, but she left a very large legacy here in Travis County,
Texas. Also buried at this cemetery is her daughter Susan
Inez Ayers, Heard (along with her Heard
in-laws). I am attaching a photograph
of Susan's stone which I received from the
caretaker. I will take more of Mary Anne's and send them to
you while I am there. Again, I thank you so much for pointing us
in the right direction! Best regards,

you for taking the
time to send us the information and warm greetings.
Unfortunately, Shane does not know much about his Barlar-Barlow side of
the family. Shane and I have been visiting the Barlar.org
website and I must say it is very impressive. The site is
well laid out and easy to navigate. Shane has learned much
about his heritage just by visiting the website. I also would
like to thank everyone that contributed to building
Barlar.org. It is full of information and I know that it
takes time, money and dedication to put it together. Shane
and I would like to send our love and best wishes for the holidays and

__In
response to the note from Jennifer Rochelle, Holcomb; Hohenwald, TN USA....
Jennifer, I'm willing to bet that the engraving in the barn on the old
Isaac Leonard Barlar, Sr. farm, up Parrish Hollow Rd in the Yokely
community in Giles County, was the knifework of my dad, Isaac Leonard
Barlar, Jr., and not his dad (my granddad), Issac Leonard Barlar, Sr.
I'll try and get by there and get a picture of the carving and pass it
on to you soon. Please say "hi" to your dad for me. He and I were the
closest in age between my dad's and Ollie Belle's two families, and we
usually played together when the two families got together. He's always
had a mischievous kinda smile that just made others smile as well, when
he was a'grinnin'. Hope you and yours are well.

__Hello,
I am the daughter of Ralph W. Rochelle, who is Ollie Bell (Barlar)
Rochelle's son. I have been searching my family tree and found this
website. In your photo album of the 50th and 58th wedding anniversary
of John and Zana Barlar, the white house standing behind them still
stands today. When my grandmother Ollie passed, her daughter, Linda
Rochelle, now owns it. Last I heard, it might be up for sale. The house
is on Parrish Hollow Road in the Lynnville area, but I think it has a
Mt. Pleasant address. Behind the house stands an old barn and inside is
a carving on a piece of wood -- Leornard Barlar's name and some kind of
picture; but I can't remember exactly what it was. If I get a chance
one day I’ll go by there and take some pictures. Also, I'll
try to find some pictures of Ollie Bell. I have been looking on
ancestry.com and I have found that Alfred J. Barlar's mother, Susan F.
(Phillips) Barlar's mother, might have been Mary Collier and Mary's
husband was an Alfred Phillips. Mary Collier is a possible link to a
William Collier, who is a possible link to George W. Bush's 10th great
grandfather. It has been somewhat confusing for me, so don't hold me to
it. Thanks, Jennifer.

__Well what a
pleasant
surprise. I'm Steven Leonard Barlar, son of Isaac Leonard Barlar, Jr.
and Grandson of Isaac Leonard Barlar, who had a farm in the Yokely
community of Giles County. Your website note regarding the
origin of the Barlar name is most interesting. In my teen
years, the tale we were told then was that the two old widower brothers
who were school teachers had the name changed around the turn of the
century. However, if memory serves me correctly, the name
appears as Barlow on William Henry's census records in 1850 and as
Barlar in 1860. So whatever happened to the name occurred during a
decade between censuses. Lastly, I am extremely interested in what you
have turned up if anything on our ancestors prior to William Henry
Barlow. P.S. my
father served in an armored unit in WWII in the pacific Theater and
participated in the beachhead invasion of Okinawa. While stationed in
Honolulu he was able see Hilo
Hattie’s hula dance
troupe perform for the troops. Later after the war, while at the
University of Tennessee in Knoxville, he was able to actually meet Hilo
Hattie. At the time she was touring the States with her dance troupe.
